Tassy Preparations

It is early January as I pen this intro to our next trip. It is still another 4 1/2 weeks before our departure but I have started to get thing organised already (not my usual modus operandi) but there are a lot more factors at play on this trip. I have recently re-injured my back & I am working hard at exercising it back to a usable state. The ferry from Melbourne to Devonport has been booked & paid for. We are departing from Melbourne on the 24th February but intend to leave home around the 10th February. We have several medical issues that may yet affect our departure.
There is quite a mixed group for this trip. Graham & Gail a couple of weeks before us & will arrive in Tassy a couple of weeks before us, they will also spend a couple of weeks there, after we leave.
We will only be on the island for 5 weeks. Yesterday we had a planning meeting with the other couples who are travelling on the ferry both ways, on the same days as us. The 3 couples travelling together are Carmel & Glen, Sue & Mark & us. We are not sure if we will be travelling together to Melbourne or not. At this stage that does not look like happening. We had originally intended to travel the east coast route, but with most of East coast Australia burning we may reassess that at departure. We normally travel western routes, so we may go back to that.
Packing for this trip is also more complex as we will be experiencing really hot summer weather & no doubt some cold, windy, rainy days in Tasmania.

Some pre planning discussions at the Burrum Heads pub
...
Another 2 weeks have gone by its now the 25th of January, the tow vehicle has had a major service with a few extras thrown in & is now ready to go, caravan packing with non perishables will probably start this week. Home phsio on my back is improving it greatly & I am once more back on the bike.
I have also purchased a basic drone for some more interesting type pictographs & have been learning to use it around near our home.

.......2 &1/2 days to go & its pouring rain outside, we don't mind at all, it is so good to see after this long drought & all the fires, we have had 4 & 1/2 inches in the last 48 hours and everything is looking really green again. Our packing is almost complete, Gail & Graham left last Friday & are in Melbourne waiting to board the ferry to Tasmania, its Friday today & we hope to head off on Monday to meet the ferry on the 24th. Sue & Mark will leave next Friday & Carmel & Glen a few days after that. All 3 couples will meet in Melbourne at the ferry on the 24th.
